"PROVIDING SERVICES SINCE
1945"
HISTORY
Goodman Services was started in 1945 by Harry,
Henry,
and Hyman Goodman on Hilton Street in Bradford, PA. The scrap
business
was familiar to the men as their father, Abraham
Goodman had been a back peddler in the years before WWII.
Abraham traveled around the area in a
horse drawn wagon and picked up recyclable scrap items from
households.
Goodman Services maintained the scrap business on Hilton
Street until 1955 when they moved to their current location to make
room for the new section of U.S. Route 219. Harry Goodman's sons, Mike
and Max, joined their Father in the business and at one time had an
auto parts, machining, and piping business for many years.
In 1995 Mike Goodman brought onboard his son-in-law, Tim
Sampson, and three years later his son Eric joined in the venture of
growing the family's scrap metal business. The company has grown
significantly and now has contracts to buy scrap from industries in
Mckean, Potter, Warren, and Elk counties in Pennsylvania, and
Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Allegany counties in New York.
