HARRIS 1103 BSH SHEAR

In 2004 Goodman Services Inc. accquired a Harris Model 1103 BSH Shear. Harris 1103 Shear

This investment will allow us to process recycled metals at the rate of between 16 - 24 Tons per Hour. The shear is capable of creating a cutting (shearing) force of 1100 Tons, or two million two hundred thousand pounds per square inch! This type of shear utilizes a patented "Tuck-and-Fold" compression box which densifies material before shearing. The "Tuck-and-Fold" compression box reduces pre-processing time with fewer cutting torch operations, allowing faster feeding and greater production, as much as 20 times faster than manual labor methods used in the past.

for the next "compress and shear" operation. Thru this process the shear can remain in continual operation not waiting for the compression box to be refilled. This reduces labor cost, improves efficiency, and gets the product to our customer in record time and drastically improved in uniformity and density.
The shear then processes the "sheared" material thru a vibrating conveyor where contaminates are removed and then sent to the loading conveyor where they empty right into the transport system ( either railcar, truck, or temporary storage ). The third photo shows the system loading a railroad car which is at the railroad siding which was also installed in 2004. Here the railroad cars can be loaded rapidly, efficiently, and in an enviromentally safe way with little to no loss in the loading process. Shear Loading Railcar

This will greatly improve our capacity to fill large orders in record time with product that is cleaner and denser for our customers. These improvements were costly, but are part of our long term goal to provide our customers with the best product, at the best price, delivered on time. We are focusing on the future here at Goodman Services, relying on our customers needs to guide us, not forecasts or future predictions. "SERVICE" really is our middle name.
